As our name implies, we are focused on servers. Here’s why. Analysts reported a worldwide installed base of over 33 million volume servers* at the end of 2011. And that doesn’t even account for the growing number of virtual servers!
The other reason to focus on servers is that they represent the productivity in IT environments - the computing power that drives the applications and services the IT environment supports.
In looking at server deployments, particularly the small-medium sized ones, we found that:
1. Server inventories (typically maintained in spreadsheets) were usually inaccurate and the process for updating them was generally onerous; and
2. We had more information about those servers (in our knowledge base) than was readily available to IT personnel.
Our mission is to make it easy to maintain a server inventory, conveniently accessible to all who need it, and to deliver actionable visibility into server environments by leveraging our knowledge base and providing a set of analytics that address critical server capacity, productivity (energy and space) and lifecycle concerns.
